Cronin Named President of MA Elks Association

Mark W. Cronin of the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks was recently installed, at the annual convention held in Hyannis, as President of the Massachusetts Elks Association for 2014-2015. He was initiated into the Auburn Lodge in June 1978. He began his career path by volunteering on committees from the time he became a member. He was first elected to office in his Lodge in 1981 as the Lodge Tiler. Soon after, he served in the chairs culminating with Exalted Ruler in 1984-1985. In 1985 he was elected Lodge Secretary, a position that he continues to hold. He was elected to Honorary Life Membership in 1995.

In 1996 Mark was appointed as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the West Central District of Massachusetts. He has served as a Trustee of the Massachusetts Elks Charitable Trust since 1998. In 1998 he was elected to the office of State Secretary, a position he held until 2011 when he was elected Second Vice-President of the State Association. During his tenure as State Secretary he converted the record keeping of the State Association from a paper system to the computerized system which is now in place.

Mark spent 39 years working in the retail jewelry industry, 25 of those years as store manager. He currently works as a Business Analyst at the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Mark has been married to his wife and best friend Nancy for 37 years; she is a Past Exalted Ruler of the Auburn/Webster Lodge. They have two children, Mark Jr. who works as a Scientist, and Colleen, who is a teacher. Both Mark Jr. and Colleen are members of the Auburn/Webster Lodge. Mark Jr. and his wife Yuko have a beautiful daughter Mia who is the pride and joy of grandma and grandpa.

For the past 37 years Mark has been dedicated to the principles of Elkdom and looks forward to serving the members of the Massachusetts Elks Association as President in the year ahead.
