Just after 7:00 pm Sunday evening the AFRD was requested mutual aid to the Town of Oxford to 92 Main St., Uncle Bob’s Storage for a reported fire in a row of storage units. Engine 1 & Tower 1 responded.
AFRD units were one of the first few companies to arrive, and the crew from Tower 1 immediately started forcible entry on the units while Engine 1 assisted the first Oxford Engine with water on the fire.
These types of storage units pose many hazards and challenges to firefighters and the fire spread is very fast. The first due companies did a great job opening up quickly and containing the fire to one end of the units. The temperature outside tonight was no help, great job by all!
