AUBURN – Ralph Philip Dorey of Auburn died Thursday in his home with his family at his side. 

He is survived by his loving wife Florence M. (Flek) Dorey, and their children Jeanne H. Dorey of Holland; Michele F. Dorey of Auburn; and Captain John M. Dorey, United States Navy, daughter-in-law Brenda and grandson, Michael of Chesapeake, VA; and, cousins Renee Garner of Nice, France and Rosemary McLeod, of British Columbia.

He was predeceased by a brother, John L. Dorey of Bar Harbor, Maine.

Ralph was born in Kingston, Nova Scotia, Canada, and grew up in Seal Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, Maine. He was the son of the late Parker and Jeanne (Rebaldo) Dorey.

Mr. Dorey was naturalized a US Citizen and later served his country proudly as a member of the US Army Air Corps in WWII, and the U. S. Air Force in the Korean War.

After the service Ralph earned his MBA from Clark University and worked his entire career in the textile machinery industry at the David Gessner Companies of Worcester, where he served as Executive Vice President, and President of its subsidiary, Howard Brothers Mfg. of Auburn. 

Ralph enjoyed watching the Red Sox, playing golf, reading, and visiting his summer home in Bar Harbor with his family.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the VNA and Hospice nurses, and especially Lynne Cady, for their skilled and loving care.

At his request, Ralph’s funeral and burial were held privately.
