The sun was shining, the temps were rising, and Little League baseball was getting underway. In an annual rite of passage, over 300 Auburn Little players marched from the Auburn Senior Center to the Pappas Recreation Complex in a parade led by Auburn Police motorcycles an Auburn Fire engine and the Middle School marching band. Hundreds lined Pakachoag Street and the driveway leading into the Pappas Recreation Complex to watch the festivities.
The opening ceremonies were kicked off with the AMS band performing the Star Spangled Banner. Following were remarks from league president Dave Nordman and State Representative Paul Frost, who also led the Little League Oath.
Games were scheduled on the three Pappas Recreation Complex fields all day long. While players waitedthey enjoyed hamburgs and hot dogs from the concession stand, and played on a variety of inflatable games set up on the Riley-Pappas Pavilion field.
