Auburn is home to a Purple Heart Monument at the corner of Prospect St. and Southbridge St. It is part of the Veteran’s Memorial Corridor, and the Auburn Board of Selectmen voted in May of 2011 to accept the monument as town property.

On Monday evening, the town was officially designated as a Purple Heart Community by the Military Order of the Purple Heart. State Senator Michael Moore and State Representative Paul Frost both presented proclamations from their legislative bodies.

The Purple Heart Monument was donated by the Order in 2011, and there are plans to add onto the monument to accommodate more than the original 60 names.
