150x201-2547876Edward F. “Sully” Sullivan, 77, of Auburn, Retired Sergeant of the Auburn Police Department died Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Tufts Medical Center in Boston after an illness.

Edward’s beloved wife of 42 years, died in 2005, Cecelia M. (Saucier) Sullivan. He leaves his children, Maureen Niford of Nashua, Theresa R. Sullivan and her husband, Timothy Gignillliat of Oxford, Kathleen K. Ferracamo and her husband, Jerry of Patrick, South Carolina and Edward B. Sullivan and his wife, Shelly of Auburn; also survived by five grandchildren, Anthony Ferracamo, Sean Sullivan, Holly Marie Gignilliat, Caitlyn Sullivan and Hanna Gignilliat and several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Edward F. Sullivan, Sr., and Eileen (Connors) Sullivan. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester in 1954.

In 1961, he joined the Auburn Police Department as a Patrolman. He worked with his brothers in blue, keeping the Auburn Community safe for over 34 years, retiring as a Sargent.

Ed was a fun loving guy who enjoyed playing practical joke on many of his friends and acquaintances. He loved spending time with his family, going to York Beach, Maine, family cookouts and watching his favorite New England Sports Teams.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Sullivan’s family on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 3-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be on Thursday, February 20, 2014 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, Auburn. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn
