AMS Student Selected for Central District Junior Chorus

by | Feb 11, 2014

Ana Pietrewicz, a student at Auburn Middle School, has been named to the 2014 Central District Junior Chorus.

The Central District Massachusetts Music Educators Association (CDMMEA) chooses a select number of students each year to participate in one of several ensembles.  There is a chorus, orchestra, band, and a jazz ensemble for both the high school students (Senior ensembles) and middle school students (Junior ensembles).

Four AHS students were named to Senior ensembles – three in orchestra and one in vocal – in November. (Read the full story HERE.)

Pietrewicz will participate in three rehearsals in April and May, culminating in a concert on May 3 at 2pm at Shrewsbury High School.

Central District Junior Chorus and Band auditions took place on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, MA.  Hundreds of students from all over Central Mass auditioned for spots in the chorus, band, orchestra, and jazz band, but only about 100-150 students are accepted into each group (excluding the considerably smaller jazz band).  Auburn had 9 students audition for chorus, 1 for Orchestra, and 2 for Band.
