Algonquin Hockey Prevails Over AHS

by | Jan 31, 2014

Wednesday night’s girls hockey game may look like an easy win for the Tomahawks, but there was a lot of fight in the Auburn team.  Less than five minutes in, Algonquin’s Nicollette Sam Clemente scored her first of four goals. The Rockets were unable to take advantage of an early penalty for the visiting Tomahawks, and the period ended 2-0 in their favor.

Algonquin scored quickly in the second, but ten minutes later, Katie Mason scored for the Rockets with a Nicole Coulombe assist. About three minutes into the period, Auburn had a 5-3 advantage, but once again, they were unable to capitalize.

Three more Tomahawk scores in the third period pretty much sealed the game, but Auburn wasn’t done. With less than 2 minutes left, Dominique Jose found the net assisted by Morgan LaPlante.

Auburn was aggressive in this game and shooting regularly. Sasha Barry recorded 24 saves for the Tomahawks while Nicole LaCroix had 21 for the Rockets. The girls are home next Wednesday when they face Cathedral at 5:30PM.
