Boys Hockey Still Searching for a Win

Considering D1 Wachusett is ranked #2 in the Quinn Conference, the results from Wednesday’s game could have been a lot worse. It was pleasantly surprising that the Rockets scored first at 3:45 in the first period. Cam Callihan made the goal with an assist by Adam Clark. Unfortunately, this was Auburn’s only goal as they recorded their 8th loss.

The Mountaineers tied up the game at 8:30 in the second period, and sealed it early in the third with back-to-back goals. The Rockets are bringing no offense to their games, and only had 4 shots on net. The Auburn/Millbury team has decent talent on the ice, but they need to break out of this stagnation.

In contrast, Wachusett had 51 shots on net, and Goalie Evan Lockwood saved 48 of them. He continues to do an outstanding job, but when your back is against the wall and there’s a firing squad in front, you can’t dodge every bullet.

The Rockets face Groton-Dunstable tonight.
