On Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:50 PM the Auburn Police Department received a 911 call from an employee of the Vitamin Shoppe (434 Southbridge Street) who reported a vehicle struck the building, then backed up and hit a fence and was stuck on a snow bank.

When police arrived the operator, Marsha Brown-Reale (age 61), was still in the driver’s seat , refused medical assistance from Auburn Fire & EMS. Although the accident is still under investigation by Officer Tod J. Kuchnicki, the operator told investigators that after pulling into a parking space her foot slipped off the brake onto the accelerator.

The crash caused significant damage to the building which is also occupied by Starbuck’s and Aspen Dental.

The Auburn Building Department was contacted and requested to determine if there were any structural issues.
