The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing traffic impacts for I-90 eastbound and westbound at Exit 96 (Route 122) in Millbury will occur starting Sunday evening January 30, and continuing through Friday, February 4, to allow bridge demolition operations to take place.
Overnight hours each night next week beginning Sunday, January 30 and ending Friday morning and overnight hours are from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next day: lane closures are planned on I-90 eastbound and westbound in the vicinity of exit 96.
Overnight hours each night next week beginning Sunday, January 30 and ending Friday morning and overnight hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the next day: the I-90 exit 96 eastbound on and off-ramps will be closed. Traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use exit 94 and Route 20.
During the night work, there will be limited I-90 eastbound rolling rock-blocks to allow bridge demolition to take place. This will require brief holds of traffic in the vicinity of the exit 96 and will take place between 11:59 p.m. and 3 a.m. the following morning.
This work is being undertaken as part of the $10 million Millbury-Superstructure Replacement at Interchange 96.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency situation.
