Barbara K. (Kinnear) Granger, 93, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 7, 2021, with her loving husband, Richard, by her side.

Born in Tewksbury, and raised in Roslindale, Barbara was one of three daughters of the late William G. and Louise D. (Woodbury) Kinnear. She was a graduate of Roslindale High School, Class of 1945, before going on to attend Westbrook Junior College, Portland, ME, and graduating from Mount Ida College in Newton in 1948 with an Associate’s degree. Barbara began working for Northeast Airlines, Inc. (now Delta Airlines) as a flight attendant, for two years. She then worked as Administrative Assistant to the directors of the Ward School of Airline Training in Worcester, for almost thirty years. During that period, she also worked at Ingalls Associate’s, formerly Davis Advertising, Inc., in Worcester, and eventually was promoted to Account Executive.

From 1978 to 1986, Barbara worked for Johnson Steel and Wire, Worcester, becoming Advertising Manager, before, finally, becoming a Real Estate Agent with Emerson Realtors in Auburn. She was skilled at organizing and planning, and always making the customer happy. Barbara was a well-known Auburn realtor for almost 25 years, before retiring.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing golf at the Worcester Country Club, and knitting. Barbara was always involved in town events and committees, including Auburn Youth & Family Services, Auburn Women’s Club, and Auburn Alliance for the Arts, to name a few. For many years she was a Town Meeting Member, never missing a Town Meeting; she also served for many years on the Auburn Zoning Board of Appeals.

Along with her husband, Barbara leaves many wonderful friends and business associates. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her two sisters, Beatrice L. Kinnear and Dorothy K. Carr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Auburn Youth & Family Services, 21 Pheasant Court, Auburn, MA 01501 (

At Barbara’s request, her family celebrated her life privately, and entombment was held at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting her family.
