Blackstone River Watershed Association (BRWA) Seeks to Expand Board of Directors

by | Nov 4, 2021

For more than 50 years the Blackstone River Watershed Association has worked to engage, educate, and advocate for improved water quality in the Blackstone River Watershed and that work continues. Consider becoming a nominee for a position on the BRWA’s Board of Directors to be a part of this important work! Experience or training in water resources and the environment is not required. We encourage director candidates with expertise in nonprofit management, leadership development, marketing, social media, fundraising, finance, environmental studies or education, legal issues, and development to consider running.

Whatever your age or background, serving as a director is a meaningful way to volunteer your time, talent, and energy. It is a great resume builder that demonstrates your support for a non- profit organization in your community. We are offering you a way to give back to the community and support the environment at the same time.

If interested, please contact us. We’ll share our recently updated strategic plan so you can see what work the BRWA is currently engaged in as well as our plans for the future. You can meet with current board members either in person or via Zoom and then decide if you would like to submit your name to the BRWA Nominating Committee for consideration.

The Board has monthly meetings, hosts periodic community events, and is engaged with other partners like the newly formed Blackstone River Collaborative under the leadership of Stefanie Covino. We are active and engaged in water quality and cold-water stream temperature monitoring within the watershed, organize fishing and litter cleanup events, and offer an education program about watersheds, the environment, as well fish and wildlife habitat.

With your help there is much more we could do to improve the health of the Blackstone River and watershed moving us closer to BRWA’s vision of vibrant, healthy, free-flowing waterways in the Blackstone Valley, treasured by all.
