Richard J. King, 80, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 with his loving family by his side, at UMASS Memorial – University Campus.

Born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn, Richard was one of three children born to the late Charles M. and Beatrice M. (Myott) King. At 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines just before the Vietnam War and served proudly for four years. Richard settled back in Auburn and began his career with Carpenter’s Union Local #107. He later had a lengthy career in auto mechanics, working for Bancroft Motors, from which he retired.

Richard was a lifelong member of the Marine Corp League of Worcester, was a longtime member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post #279, and was a life member of the Auburn Sportsman Club and Auburn Lodge of Elks.

Richard loved hunting, playing pool, and attending classic car shows.

He leaves his devoted fiancée, Carol M. Wahlstrom, of Shrewsbury; his daughter, Dina A. Kujawski and her husband Alan, of Webster; two step-children, Richard and David; six grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Sean, Kimberly, Patrick, Briana, with whom he was very close; his great-grandchildren; his step-siblings, Bonnie, Margie, Krystal, and Keith; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy LaPlante and Charles M. King, Jr.; and his step-children, Donna and Daryl.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the King family between 5 – 7 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn, MA. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
