John S. Watson, 75, of Auburn, died peacefully on Thursday, September 23rd, surrounded by loving family members. John was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Robert and Isabella Watson. He was one of three Watson children. John was raised in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1964 where he found his soulmate, Sally Israelian. John advanced his education through Worcester State College where he played hockey and earned a Master’s degree in Education. He soon married his high school sweetheart and began his teaching career at Westboro High School as both a woodshop, and history teacher. John and his wife Sally were the proud parents of Matthew and Jodi. John retired after 34 years of teaching at Westboro High School where he made a tremendous impact on his students. In 2011, John lost his beloved wife, Sally, to kidney cancer. He found solace with his Jeep buddies. This special group met weekly on “Jeep Day” and meticulously restored several WWII Willys Jeeps.

John leaves behind his two children, Matthew Watson and his wife Sherri-Ann Hughes-Watson of Charlton, MA and Jodi Towne and her husband Christopher Towne of Woodstock, CT. His grandchildren, Allison and Henry Watson, and Jarrett and Abigail Towne. He also leaves his two brothers, Robert Watson, and his wife Diane Watson of Rotonda West, FL and Paul Watson of Cornish, Maine. He leaves 15 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clear Path for Veterans New England, 84 Antietam St, Devens, MA.

Calling hours will be held from 4 – 7 PM. on Friday, October 1st, at Britton Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, MA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 2nd, at First Congregational Church, 128 Central St., Auburn, MA. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
