The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be conducting paving operations along I-290 eastbound in Worcester. The work will occur in overnight hours only and will require intermittent temporary lane closures and on and off-ramp closures between exit 17 (Vernon Street/Kelley Square) and exit 24 (Plantation Street) beginning Sunday night, August 15, and concluding on Wednesday, August 18.
The ramp closures are scheduled nightly from 9:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 15 through Wednesday, August 18. During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place.
The schedule is weather permitting. Only one ramp at a time will be closed during the paving operations.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
