John G. Millar, 74, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Hospital – University Campus, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Providence, RI, raised and educated in Barrington, RI, John was one of three children born to the late John Millar and Esther A. (Bischoff) Millar. He was a graduate of Barrington High School, before attending and graduating from Rhode Island School of Radio and Electronics. Upon graduating, John enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1966 and honorably served his country until 1970, when he was transferred to the Reserve. He then began his extensive career of over twenty years at Digital Equipment Corporation, from which he later retired from his role as Engineering Project Leader.

In his free time, John enjoyed camping, spending time on the beach, motorcycling, biking, and auto repair. He was known for his quick wit, joke-telling, pranks, and his ability to fix anything – no matter what, if it was broken, he could fix it.

He leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Carol A. (Stephenson) Millar; his daughters, Kristen Kane and her husband Joe, of Rutland, and Carrie Paradis and her husband Arthur, of Charlton; his granddaughters, Allison and Annmarie Kane, of Rutland, Katherine Bush and Addison Paradis, of Charlton; and his sister, Jane Wass, of Wolfeboro, NH. Along with their parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org/).

Funeral services and burial with military honors will be held privately for John’s family. The BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
