The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will begin installing new milepost-based signs on Route 146, between Uxbridge and Worcester, and on Interstate 190, between West Boylston and Leominster. The sign installation operations will take place nightly during overnight hours from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
The schedule and time frame of work on each corridor will be as follows:
Sign installation operations on Route 146, between Uxbridge and Worcester, are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 17, and are anticipated to be completed in two days.
Sign installation operations on Interstate 190, between West Boylston and Leominster, are scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 21, and are anticipated to be completed in two days.
The ongoing sign installation operations that are being conducted on Interstate 95 are expected to continue through the week of March 14. The work along this corridor is expected to take approximately 10 weeks to complete and has been broken up into four construction segments as follows:
Interstate 95 between the New Hampshire border and Route 128 (completed)
Interstate 95 between the Route 1 interchange and Route 20
Interstate 95 between the Interstate 90 interchange and Westwood and Canton
Interstate 95 between Neponset Street and the Rhode Island border
All work is weather dependent and construction dates may be adjusted as conditions warrant.
MassDOT’s Statewide Exit Renumbering Project is converting all exit numbers on roadways, per Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements. Interstates and major roadways in Massachusetts previously utilized a sequential exit numbering method.
