Jim is survived by his loving wife of over nineteen years, Lynn M. Doughty; four brothers, Joseph F. Benoit, Michael R. Benoit, Daniel J. Benoit, and John L. Benoit; two sisters, Donna L. Benoit-Simarano, and Christine E. Albin; also many nieces and nephews. Jim endured a loss which no parent should ever have to, when his son, Matthew Benoit, predeceased him in 2015. He was also predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Mark A. Benoit, Timothy C. Benoit, and Denise Benoit. Jim was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph W. and Patricia C. (Hallahan) Benoit. He served his nation proudly as a Paratrooper in the United States Army, receiving several commendations for his bravery and service. He was also a proud supporter of the US Army Historical Museum.
Jim worked for many years as a flooring and carpet installer. He was a subcontractor with his brother, John, in their flooring business and later joined the Mass State Local Carpenters Union 2168. He was a member of Saint John’s Church and enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and the beaches of Rhode Island and Maine. He was an avid collector of classic New England memorabilia and antique coins. Most important to Jim was time spent with family.
