Donald E. Johnson, 89, of Auburn passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Lifecare Center of Auburn following a period of declining health.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of Ejbert A. Johnson and Helen C. (Norberg) Johnson McGuire Perks. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Ruth M. (Publicover) Johnson, his daughter Kathryn Brunelle and her husband Timothy of East Brookfield, a grandson Timothy Brunelle of Leicester and his sister Joan Boulette of Monson.

Donald graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and spent 8 years in the Navy and Navy Reserves during the Korean War. He worked for Thompson Steel for 28 years and then worked as a custodian for the Auburn Public Schools until retiring. He was a longtime member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion and the Auburn Elks.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his son Donald Stephen Johnson, his brother Ernest Johnson and his sister Ingrid Valley.

Donald’s funeral services will be private at the convenience of his family. Donations in his memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, St. 602, Boston, MA 02215.
