The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing a full, overnight roadway closure on Route 9 between the Speen Street and Route 27 interchange in Natick. This closure is part of work required for the Framingham-Natick Cochituate Rail Trail project. MassDOT’s contractor will be erecting a new bridge over Route 9 overnight on Sunday, October 11. The roadway closure will occur from 10:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, until 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 12.
The detours are as follows:
- Westbound traffic on Route 9 will be directed to turn right onto North Main Street (Route 27) and then travel westbound on Commonwealth Avenue (Route 30) to Speen Street to access Route 9 westbound.
- Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Speen Street and directed to head eastbound on West Central Street (Route 135) back to North Main Street (Route 27) back to Route 9 eastbound.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. The passage of emergency response vehicles will be permitted.
Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be impacted due to an emergency.
