Life Care Center of Auburn certainly deserved some happy news. While Covid-19 took its toll on the facility, the staff and residents were able to have fun day.
With the residents now in recovery phase and the recent news from the Governor that visitations may resume with restrictions they had a kick off celebration to welcome families back. Long term care residents were able to get outside and not only enjoy the day but enjoy seeing their families for the first time in months.
While the residents practiced social distancing and wore masks, families drove in their cars around the building in a parade of well wishes. The residents were full of smiles and excitement. There were tears of joy from staff that were so happy to see the residents reunite with their families. Although the families couldn’t exit their cars they were blowing kisses to the residents who took it as a sign of good times ahead. Music, pompoms, clappers, balloons and confetti were part of the fun.
Short term rehab patients visitation will open later in the day. Unclear as to what the future holds as a new normal it certainly was a step in the right direction.
