Massachusetts school closings extended through end of academic year

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Governor Baker ordered Massachusetts schools to remain closed through the end of the 2019-20 academic school year. With Massachusetts now considered one of the key hotspots for spread of coronavirus, the Governor stated, “At this point in time, there is no authoritative guidance or advisories with respect to how to operate schools safely and how to get kids to and from schools safely.”

Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire have also closed schools through the rest of the academic year.

While new daily cases in Massachusetts have appeared to flatten, deaths from the illness continue to increase. According to the Governor, testing and contact tracing will be key to the path toward resuming ‘normal’ levels of activity.
