Evelyn M. (Simpson) Bartlette, 89, of Auburn and Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 7, 2020.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, William A. Bartlette, her brother, George Simpson, and, of course, her loving parents.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William R. Simpson and Maud (Hesslewood) Simpson Porter. Evelyn graduated from Commerce High School, and in 2018, attended her 70th high school reunion.

She leaves her dear sister, Doris Avella of NJ, her very special and caring nieces, Mary Avella of NJ, Linda O’Brien, Patricia Israelian, Carol Mulvey of Auburn, Vicki Krom of CT, their loving families, and more dear nieces and nephews.

She once worked at Paul Revere Insurance Company and retired from Parkers Manufacturing Company.

She was a former member of the Worcester-Auburn Elks Emblem Club and the Worcester Genealogical Society. Evelyn is a charter member of the Worcester Chapter North American Family Campers Association, a member of the Good Sam Campers Club. She sat on the Board of Directors and was a member of the Auburn Historical Society for many years.

She enjoyed her camping years and her time at the Auburn Historical Museum, and all the friends she made along the way. She loved doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, and researching her family tree.

Per Evelyn’s request for no flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Auburn Historical Society, 41 South Street, Auburn, MA 01501, or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.

A service and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday July 25, 2020, on her 90th birthday, at Hillside Cemetery, 65 Central Street, Auburn, MA. A lunch at the Auburn Elks will follow the celebration.
