Fire hits Fairfield Inn; no injuries

A fire in the attic of the Fairfield Inn at 718 Southbridge St. forced the evacuation of about 30 guest and has closed the hotel indefinitely. 

Firefighters responded to the hotel around 8:20 Sunday evening and found smoke throughout the building, but it took some time to locate the fire in the attic. Once located, it was quickly extinguished according to the AFRD. 

No injuries were reported, and guests of the hotel were evacuated and transported to the Hampton Inn for the night. Damage estimates were not available but the hotel will be closed until further notice. The District 7 Fire Investigation Unit was investigating the cause of the incident.
