One week ago on July 1st, Auburn held its annual Independence Day Celebration at the Pappas Recreation Complex. By the 5:00pm start, crowds were already walking into the vending area at the upper levels of the park where about 50 vendors were set up and ready for the onslaught.
After a brief opening parade by the American Legion and a few words from local dignitaries, the festivities were in full swing with the Outriggers providing another terrific concert. As darkness approached, visitors settled onto the many grassy areas for the fireworks.
It is estimated that 10,000 people attended the largest of previous Independence Day activities, and this year’s event entertained about 11,000. By all accounts, this was nothing short of a total success. Next year is likely to be even better.
Have a look at some of the fun.
