Leo R. Narris, 88, of Auburn died peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge after an illness.
His wife of 64 years, Helen K. (Krasowsky) Narris died December 19, 2012. He leaves his loving children, Allan L. Narris and his wife Marie of Auburn and Nancy A. Pepin and her husband Louis of Whitinsville; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, James and Mitchell Narris and five sisters, Viola Zinkowsky, Helen Klansek, Margaret Gargolinski, Pauline Clark and Phylis Hebert.
Leo was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Mydlo) Narris and attended Worcester schools. Leo honorably served his country during WWII with the United States Navy. He and his family lived in Auburn for over 60 years.
He worked as a Mechanic and Foreman for Crompton & Knowles for many years. Later in his career, he worked for Waste Management in Worcester for 9 years before he retired in 1986.
Leo was a faithful member of Saint Joseph’s Parish in Auburn. He also held several memberships, including the Auburn Elks, VFW, Polish American Veterans, Greendale Men’s Club and the Canal Sportsmen Club in Bourne. Leo was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing on the Cape Cod Canal, hunting and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens at his home.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Leo’s family on Saturday December 7, 2013 from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will then be celebrated with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Relay for Life of Central South County, American Cancer Society, 44 Barefoot Road, Northborough, MA 01532.
