Auburn Hosts Special Olympics

On Saturday morning, cars and vans began arriving at Auburn High School, and they carried some of the most special athletes in Massachusetts. For the eleventh year, Special Olympians hit the courts of the school for state level basketball games.

Meanwhile at AMF Auburn Lanes, Special Olympics bowled throughout the day and displayed their skills. Back on Auburn Street, a craft fair kept visitors well occupied while the Auburn/Webster Elks served up a filling lunch to all the athletes, coaches and relatives.

The Tuttle Post supplied the color guard for opening ceremonies where dignitaries spoke and the Bay State Allstars performed. Representative Paul Frost wrapped things up by leading the Olympians in the Oath.

It was a great weekend for all.
