Ambulance 2 from the West St. station was first to arrive and requested the Rescue for heavy extrication. AFRD also requested assistance from the Worcester Fire Department for a specialized piece of equipment.

Due to heavy traffic, the patient’s condition and an extended extrication, the Life Flight helicopter out of UMASS Hospital was requested and landed on the pike at IC-10. Also assisting on scene were Worcester Fire Rescue 1, Car 2 and Car 10, as well as the Mass State Police and Mass DOT.

There is no further information on the driver’s identity or condition.
