Soccer teams move on; field hockey falls in playoffs

The Auburn High boys and girls soccer teams won their first round district games to advance to the second round of the single elimination playoffs. The Rockets field hockey team dropped to Algonquin 3-0 in their second round game and are now done for the season. 

On Friday afternoon at AHS, Adam Gonyea scored in double overtime, which was the game’s only goal, to take the 1-0 win over Bay Path. 3rd seeded Auburn will play 6th seeded Northbridge Monday night at 5pm at Auburn High. 

The girls soccer team defeated Gardner 2-0, also Friday afternoon at AHS. Jackie Landry tallied both goal, one on an assist by Obiamaka Igwenagu and the second on an assist by Corinne Oliver. Number 2 seeded Auburn will take on 7th seeded Nipmuc Regional High School out of the Dual Valley Conference at 7pm on Monday night at AHS. 

Admission is $8 adults and $5 students/children for all MIAA playoff events held at host schools.
