Rockets Honor Top Cops

Last Friday may not be remembered for great football, but two families will cherish the evening for honoring their family members who gave everything as police officers. Auburn’s Ron Tarentino was murdered during a traffic stop in 2016, and Yarmouth’s Sean Gannon was killed in April while attempting to serve an arrest warrant.

Members of both police departments participated in honoring their colleagues on a field painted with “the thin blue line.” Each end zone was also painted for one of the late officers.

Although Auburn and Dennis-Yarmouth are both in Division 5 football, the Cape team is the defending state champion, and they certainly looked like it last week. The Rockets could make no headway in the first half but managed 14 points in the second. The game final was 40-14, and the Dolphins deserved the victory.

Senior Jack Laperle was selected as the Rockets’ player of the game.
