Auburn bridge, Leicester roadway to be renamed in memory of Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr.

There will be a dedication ceremony on Monday, May 21 at 10:00AM at the Auburn Public Library in recognition of the naming of the Swanson Rd. bridge and a section of Rt. 9 in Leicester in memory of Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr., who was killed in the line of duty May 22, 2016.

The Swanson Rd. bridge that spans I-290 in Auburn will be designated as the ‘Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. Memorial Bridge.’

The portion of Route 9 from the Worcester city line to the intersection of Woodland Dr. Leicester will be designated as the Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. Memorial Highway.

The dedication ceremony will formally unveil the memorial bridge and roadway dedication signs. Congressman James P. McGovern (MA-2), Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury), Representatives Paul K. Frost (R-Auburn), Kate D. Campanale (R-Worcester), Massachusetts Highway Administrator Jonathan L. Gulliver, District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr., Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis, and Auburn and Leicester Town Officials, and Tarentino friends and family members will be in attendance. The public is welcome to attend.

Please note that there will be no public parking available at the library during this event. Guests may park at the Auburn Mall or the Shaw’s plaza parking lot.
