Community Service Learning in Action

by | Apr 5, 2018

Auburn Middle School students Delia Shea, Katerina Bonos, Lydia Kirkorian, Morganne Lucier, Ally McGill and Isabella Doyle completed the last leg of the National Junior Honor Society Community Service Learning Project by delivering over 700 new, donated toys to the Cardiac Unit of Boston Children’s Hospital.

On March 25th, the students along with NJHS advisors Melissa Dupuis and Sherri Watson and AMS Principal Joe Gagnon made the trek into Boston with AMS art teacher Michele Prunier behind the wheel and the camera.

Delia Shea led the toy drive and received tremendous support from the students, faculty and families at AMS. The selection of Boston Children’s was, in part, a payback for the lifesaving care Shea received there as a four-year-old.

Principal Gagnon summarized, “The students and families of Auburn Middle School and the Auburn community continue to be the most warm and generous people on the planet.”
