AHS ‘We The People’ Heading to Nationals Again

by | Feb 8, 2018

The Auburn High School ‘We The People’ group has earned a wild card bid to the national  ‘We the People’ finals to be held April 27-30, 2018 in Washington, D.C.

Spencer Kennard, AHS Social Studies teacher and one of the group advisers along with Vincent Benacchio have set up a GoFundMe page to help offset the cost, estimated to be around $50,000 to fund the trip for the approximately 40 students, advisers and chaperones.

Members of the AHS We the People team are currently enrolled in Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics.  “It is in this course that students learn how to properly participate in a democracy. They learn about the rights and responsibilities of being an American citizen. They become experts in constitutional law and jurisprudence.” said Kennard.

There are several ways you can help the group reach this goal.  There is a GoFundMe site established at www.gofund.me/AHSWTP. You can also send a check directly to AHS, 99 Auburn Street, Auburn, MA 01501 and note “We the People” in the Memo section.
