Auburn High School’s Colleen Cutting won the prestigious statewide Red Auerbach Free Throw Shooting Contest this past Sunday. The contest was held at the Boston Garden prior to the Celtics’ game with the Miami Heat, and Cutting was awarded a plaque for her accomplishments at halftime.

Sunday’s win was the third free throw shooting contest victory this month for the senior, and she sank 3 out of 5 attempts. Cutting’s first win came March 12th at Bartlett High School in the SWCL Free Throw Shooting Contest when she hit 23 of her 25 free throw attempts. She followed that up with a win on March 19th in the Central Mass. Free Throw Shooting Contest (held at St. John’s High), hitting 22 of 25 attempts. The win at St. John’s qualified her to compete in the final.

Colleen Cutting is well known for her aggressive offense, and opposing teams have frequently put her at the line for a free throw or two. They quickly learn that she makes a high percentage, but they typically can’t avoid the contact. Auburn Athletic Director Brian Davis told Auburn Mass Daily, “We are tremendously proud of her. This is a major accomplishment.” Great job Colleen!
