The Leicester Fire Department spent their Monday night training in West Auburn at the Auburn Fire Department’s training tower. Multiple evolutions were practiced including live burns using bales of straw and wooden pallets. This type of training is essential to give firefighters experience in real fire conditions.

Skills like water supply, search and rescue, pumping, and ladders, are also honed in this type of exercise. The event is closely monitored by department officers to keep firefighters safe, and an ambulance was on standby at the facility. The training tower is used by departments in Fire District 7 and by departments from outside the area with prior scheduling.
