Auburn Police with an assist from State Police arrested a Worcester man on multiple charges after a hit and run incident at Rt. 20 and Millbury St.

At 5:07p.m. on 02/14/16, APD Officers responded to the area of Route 20 at Millbury Street for a reported hit and run motor vehicle accident where a black pickup truck rear ended another vehicle in traffic. A Massachusetts State Trooper who was in the area located the suspect vehicle in an industrial park a short distance from the crash site and contacted APD.

Officers arrived and identified the operator as Scott F. Tatro 41, of 10 Knowlton Ave. Worcester. It was determined after a short investigation that Tatro was highly intoxicated and he was taken into custody. Checks conducted on Tatro also revealed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant and a suspended driver’s license. It was also determined that Tatro had been convicted five (5) previous times for operating under the influence of liquor.

According to a police statement, during booking, Tatro indicated that he had not been properly licensed for fifteen (15) years, but intended to keep driving because he “didn’t care.”

Tatro was held on 5K bail and will be arraigned in Worcester District Court on Tuesday morning for OUI-Liquor 6th Offense, Operating After License Suspended – Subsequent Offense, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.
