When Oxford High School pulled out of their longstanding Thanksgiving Day game with rival Auburn, the Rockets filled in their schedule with a Thanksgiving week game for two years with Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School. But, it wasn’t the same as the traditional morning game.

This year, Holy Name Central Catholic High School agreed to a 2-year commitment, and the first game will be tomorrow morning at 10:00am in Worcester at Worcester State University, 486 Chandler St.

This game will complete the quartet of competitions between Auburn and the four teams that made the MIAA Central Division 4 Tournament: Doherty, Tantasqua, Grafton, and Holy Name. Grafton won the division but lost in the Central/Western game.

Auburn lost all three D4 games in the regular season, but they a primed for another victory after winning their last five games. The Rockets faced the Naps twice in recent years. In 2013, Auburn prevailed late in the game to counter a 20-14 deficit and won 21-20. In 2014, Holy Name defeated Auburn, 32-19.

Good luck Auburn! The turkey should be ready when you get home.
