Auburn High graduate Jackie Matthews (’15) score her first collegiate goal in Saint Michael’s College’s 4-0 versus Mansfield (Pa) University last Sunday.

The Saint Michael’s College field hockey team went 1-1 over the weekend as hosts of the season-opening DoubleTree Fall Classic. The Purple Knights lost to fourth-ranked Shippensburg (Pa.) University, 6-1, on Saturday, and rebounded for the 4-0 victory against Mansfield on Sunday.

Against Shippensburg, Saint Michael’s senior Megan Deschaine (Claremont, N.H./Stevens) scored with an assist from classmate Morgan Mazanec (Shelburne, Mass./Mohawk Trail Regional). Junior goalkeeper Abigail Bowie (Readfield, Maine/Kents Hill School) totaled 14 saves in her first career game.

Against Mansfield, Mazanec recorded her first career hat trick for the Purple Knights, while sophomore Jackie Matthews came off the bench to net her initial collegiate goal.
