This is an introductory program, designed to introduce children to the game of soccer in an informal, fun, activity-oriented environment. While some soccer fundamentals will be introduced, there will be more focus on small group participation and staying active.
According to USA, the division will not have formal, structured “teams”, but will organize around small group activities. The season is scheduled to run for 8 weeks from Sept. 12 through Oct. 31. Sessions will run for about one hour on Saturday mornings in conjunction with our existing U5/U6 programs.
USA is also encouraging parents of U4 players to volunteer to coach. USA provides training, reimbursement to coaches who pursue outside training, and coaches’ children play for free the following season.
Children who are at least 3 and under 4 as of September 1, 2015 are eligible to sign up. Registration is just $40, and will include a tee shirt and a soccer ball.
You can register online at www.unitedsoccerofauburn.com; you can download a manual form on that same website under ‘Forms and Documents’; or you can register in-person at the USA table at the Auburn Independence Day Celebration, July 2 at Pappas Recreation Complex.
