There is a planned ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday for the new playground at the Dr. Arthur and Dr. Martha Pappas Recreational Complex. The ceremony will start on Thursday, July 2nd, at 9:00 AM.

In a press release, Town Manager Julie Jacobson stated “The Town of Auburn wants to recognize and thank all those who contributed to the Pappas Recreation Complex Playground for their generosity, including: State Senator Michael Moore and State Representative Paul Frost for their advocacy and hard work to secure the state funds ($80,000) towards the construction of the playground; The Friends of the Pappas Recreation Complex for their outstanding fundraising efforts which raised $30,000 for the project; Dr. Arthur and Dr. Martha Pappas for their generous matching donation of $100,000.

This has truly been a community effort and we are grateful to all those who generously contributed to make this project a reality.”

Auburn’s Independence Day celebration begins at 6:30pm Thursday evening, with fireworks at about 9:30pm.  So the new playground should get quite a workout in its first day on the job!!
