She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Joseph C. Prendergast, who died in 2013. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Ellen Kilcoyne & John of Sterling; Patrick J. Prendergast & Joanne of Norwood; James M. Prendergast & Karen of Northborough; Ann Marie Collins & Joseph of Norfolk. She leaves her sister, France M. “Peggy” Gwyther of Auburn; 8 grandchildren, Meghan, Julie, & Michael Kilcoyne of Sterling; Connor & Timothy Prendergast of Norwood, Sean & Sara Prendergast of Northborough, Michael Collins of Norfolk; sister-in-law Alice Winkler of Altoona, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, James Boyce, Eileen Boyce, and Mary Burke.
Kathleen was born in Worcester to the late Fredrick & Ellen (Harding) Boyce. She was raised in Auburn and graduated from Ascension High School in Worcester, Class of 1950.
Kathleen began her career at the Chain Belt Company in Worcester and later retired from the business office at the Clinton Hospital.
She was a founding member of the North American Martyrs Church in Auburn, an adorer and parishioner of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton.
Kathleen devoted herself to raising her family and took great pride in caring for her home on Norman Street in Clinton. She took pleasure in morning coffee meetings with friends and was always available to lend a helping hand.
Following the death of her husband, Kathleen enjoyed splitting time living with her daughters and their families in Sterling and Norfolk. She cherished the company of her grandchildren and will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12pm in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 4 until 7pm.
