She leaves her husband of 57 years, John L. Holmberg, Jr., her children, Jeanne M. Simeone and her husband, Joseph of Narragansett, RI, Susan Y. Auger of Webster, Christine C. Arsenault and her husband, Yvon of Leominster, John J. Holmberg and his wife, Pam of Fernandina, Florida, Robert L. Holmberg of Auburn, Mark F. Holmberg and his wife, Maxine of Rochdale ; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two brothers, George Provost of Sturbridge, Joseph Provost of Plymouth; three sisters,
Sr. Janet Provost of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Mary Moore of Douglas and Margaret Hage of Georgetown, TX; sister-in-law, Doris Holmberg of Worcester; also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela in 2001 and a sister, Cecelia Provost.
She was born and raised in Webster, daughter of the late J. George and Bernadette (Fontaine) Provost. She graduated from St. Louis High School in Webster and later from New England School of Accounting.
Blanche started her working career at Travelers Insurance Company in Worcester before marrying the love of her life, John. They moved to Dudley, started their family and she became a full time mom. She later entered the work force again as a bookkeeper for the Cyr family business and the Atlantic Optical Company in Dudley. For the last 15 years of her career she was an administrative assistant for the Special Education Department of the Auburn School System retiring in 1998.
Blanche taught religious education at St. Anthony’s Parish in Dudley and enjoyed square, round and ballroom dancing and traveling with her husband.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Holmberg’s family on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St North, Auburn. Burial will take place at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
