In the first town-wide Boys Night Out celebration, pre-K to grade 5 boys and their special adult dates gathered at Auburn High School this past Friday. At 7:30pm, over 500 people had checked in at the cafeteria.

The Sweetheart Social has long been an activity for female elementary students and their adult dates, and about 7 years ago, someone decided the boys deserved a similar bit of fun.

The Hawaiian Luaus familiar to many students and parents were replaced this year with the Boys Night Out. The cafeteria rocked to the music of DJ Ray Richard of Leominster while photographers from Shawna Shenette Photography in Millbury took pictures of the couples in fun outfits.

The Amazing Nano Brothers, Dan and Joel, performed two juggling shows in the auditorium that had the audience in stiches. They often perform at the Boston Museum of Science.

With the Swanson Road Intermediate School opening next fall, the PTO’s will be combining and recently elected a 9-member board. Combined events will likely not be a novelty but rather the norm.
