pettisAUBURN – Theresa Claire “Terry” (Roberts) Pettis, 86, passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 16, 2015 in Charlotte NC. Her husband of 66 years, Harold Franklin Pettis, Jr., passed away in January of 2014. She leaves her sons, Dennis Pettis of Lilburn, GA and Daryl Pettis of Dover, NH; her daughters, Susan Spaulding of Hilton, NY, Cheryl Herberg of Marvin, NC and Michele Morrill of Atkinson, NH; her brother, Reginald Roberts of Pompano Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, her sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Germaine Pratt and Rachel Aldrich and a brother, Floyd Roberts.

Terry was born in Laconia, NH on November 11, 1928 to Alfred and Georgianna Roberts. Early in her marriage, she and Harold moved to Flint, MI and had lived there for 15 years before moving to Phoenix Road in Auburn, MA for the next 48 years. While living on Phoenix Road, were she and Harold raised their family they enjoyed entertaining the neighbors, many backyard cookouts and dancing.

As Terry and her sibling’s families grew, they relished their summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH together. On the lake, they made many life- long friends and remained close throughout their lives. Terry valued her 25 year career at The Big D on Sunderland Road in Worcester where she made many wonderful friends. Terry was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and great-grandmother who had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all those who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Theresa’s family on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 8:30-9:30AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. – See more at:
