Auburn’s seniors were invited to North American Martyrs Church last night for the annual corned beef and cabbage dinner presented by Senator Michael Moore and Selectman Doreen Goodrich.

About 125 took part in the traditional St. Patrick’s Day dinner of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and Irish bread. There was no cost for the guests.

After last year’s event Senator Moore said, “The winter months can be challenging to seniors, as they sometimes feel isolated in their homes with the severe weather keeping them indoors. Having this dinner allows for seniors to gather together, and enjoy a meal and conversation.”

This winter has been very hard on seniors, and Executive Director of Elder Affairs Mignonne Murray told Auburn Mass Daily that it was nice to get a break in the weather after the morning snow. She added that they also lucked out for their Valentine’s Day celebration which occurred between storms.

It appeared that all the guests left with a full stomach and a smile.
