Special Olympics Return to Auburn for 6th Consecutive Year

by | Jan 22, 2015

The Special Olympics of Massachusetts will bring its basketball and bowling competitions back to Auburn for the 6th consecutive year.

The bowling events will be held at AMF Lanes in Auburn, as well as AMF Town and Country in Shrewsbury.  Competitions are scheduled for March 7 and 8.

Auburn Recreation and Culture Director, Kristen Pappas, has been instrumental in coordinating the basketball event held at Auburn High School.   In addition to basketball, in previous years Pappas has set up an ‘Olympic Town” in the high school cafeteria where there are games and crafts for children.  There are a number of vendors and demonstrators participating each year.

This year should be even bigger than last.  Pappas says they are now accepting vendor reservations for the event.  All are welcome, and business with an emphasis on wellness, health and nutrition are especially encouraged to attend.  Food, craft and novelty vendors are also welcome.

Vendor space is available for as little as $20, and vendors can choose to be present for one or both days of the competition.

The event runs March 7 and 8 from 9am to 3pm at the Auburn High School.  Questions can be directed to Ms. Pappas at (508)  832-7736 or kpappas@town.auburn.ma.us.  Interested organizations can download the vendor contract Special Olympics Vendor Contract 2015 pdf  and return it to the Rec and Culture office.
