The Auburn High School band performed at three community functions during the holiday season under the direction of Ms. Virginia Bailey. The first event was the Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 5th when members of the marching band and drill team provided music and entertainment.

Clad in their sharp uniforms, the band played a variety of Christmas tunes and provided the background for some sing-alongs. The marching band has improved drastically over the past year and a half, and they’re already earning competition awards.

The second performance was during the holiday party for town employees on December 18th. The band crowded the third floor balcony and meeting room that overlooks the Selectmen’s Room and gave the guests a nice concert.

The holiday party uses no tax dollars and is funded by the Town Manager and the Department Heads. The food and beverages were provided by Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School.

The final performance was actually a series of concerts when the band and select chorus visited the middle school and all 4 elementary schools on Tuesday, December 23rd. Mr. Charles Pietrello directed the chorus and Drum Major Tayla Foulkrod led the band during the AHS Holiday Music Tour.

The Music Tour is a fun event that both entertains and inspires young musicians and future musicians in the audience. It was wonderful for everyone present.

The tour was also the end of an era for Julia Bancroft and Mary D. Stone schools since both are slated to close next fall when the new middle school opens. It was fitting that AHS provided the final holiday concert at both locations.

Auburn Mass Daily caught up with the tour at Julia Bancroft, and please have a look at our slide show of all three events.
