Auburn Tree Lighting and Other Weekend Happenings

Auburn’s third annual tree lighting will happen tonight at 6pm.  The festivities will be held in and around the Auburn Fire Rescue Department headquarters at 47 Auburn St.  Below is a listing of all the events going on this weekend in Auburn.

If you feel more adventurous, there are a few local venues worth checking out.

Tower Hill Botanical Gardens is hosting Holly Days through January. 4, with special activities each weekend through the new year.  Visit the Tower Hill website for more info.

Old Sturbridge Village continues its tradition of Christmas by Candlelight, every Friday through Sunday until December 21.  Tickets are $15, and $13 members.  Visit the OSV website for information and to purchase online.

A bit further out, the Lasalette Shrine in Attleboro is famous for its Christmas lights display.  Lasalette also has a concert schedule, with a number of performances by various groups throughout December. Traffic can be brutal, and there are large crowds, but Lasalette is free.  They ask only for free will donations.  Ongoing now through January 4.  Their website has more information.

Also for fans of light displays is Springfield’s Bright Nights. Open now through January 4, Bright Nights is staged in Springfield’s iconic Forest Park.  You drive through this display- slowly – along with about 10,000 other cars.  But it is well worth the drive and the traffic.  Cost is $18 per car Monday through Thursday, and $21 per car Friday through Saturday.
