Veterans’ Treats Collection Ongoing

by | Nov 4, 2014

Auburn High sophomore Serena Kelly has once again organized her annual Veterans’ Treats Collection. Donation boxes will be at Bryn Mawr, Packachoag, Auburn Middle, and Auburn High schools through Thursday.

According to Serena, “We are collecting donations of Halloween candy, granola bars, men’s warm socks, handmade “thank you veteran” cards, quarters to buy socks and nutrition bars, and sugar-free candy (suitable for diabetics) to make up treat bags for the veterans residing at the Veterans Homeless Shelter on Grove St. in Worcester. This is the ninth year that we have asked the students and parents of the Auburn schools to help us with donations for the bags – we either make up 90 larger bags or 180 if we have enough so they can hand out an extra bag at another holiday. The veterans are always excited to get them and each year our bags get better. Please make sure any cards students make are signed with first name and no addresses please. Donation boxes will be available at Bryn Mawr, Packachoag, the Middle School and High School. Thank you so much.”
